I think alot about the support I got from my friends, family health visitor and midwife and I wanted to be like these people. I became a nanny and then a childminder then got a job in an infant school. Children are hard work but every now and then something happens. Their First laugh, the First word, that First step and that's what it's all about. I have attended family and friends births and supported them through their experience. Which I found very rewarding, I then found out about Doulas and came across 'Nurturing Birth' and attended one of their courses. And here I am today......

Being Pregnant is a Wonderful thing. Everybody is in such a rush nowadays, but a baby will come when he/she is ready. We may need some assistance (I did with my first.) and that's fine. We may also need extra support at this important time, someone to listen, someone to moan at, someone to fire questions at and to confirm its ok to feel like we do and not to feel judged. Maybe your partner needs a little support. I have no medical background but can offer information, emotional care and practical support. Life is so busy sometimes, friends and family may not be able to be around or you feel you cannot contact them. I became a Doula as I feel pregnancy is the most natural thing in the world and the most beautiful. However every now and then we need a little help. Every woman deserves to enjoy this most amazing part of their life. Once the baby is born you can sometimes feel a bit over whelmed, and wonder if what you're doing is ok, especially if you have more than one child and that's fine also.
"Birth is not only about making babies.
Birth is about making mothers ~ strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength."
