 Hi my name is Leanne.

I am a recognised Doula with Doula Uk and Nurturing Birth.

I am a mother of five children including a step daughter. We have 4 girls and 1 boy. Until  2008 I had been working as a childminder. After my first pregnancy in 1998 with my son, I knew that one day I would be working or doing something related to pregnancy and birth as the whole experience just blew my away....

I had different experiences through all of my pregnancies and realised every pregnancy from my own to others would never be the same. Each pregnancy and birth is unique. I cannot deny the fantastic care I had with all of my children, but with my third I researched more about being pregnant and what my body was made to do. This inspired me to have a natural home birth as my other two were induced in hospital. I have achieved two home births and they were fantastic.
I asked my mum to be present at my home births as well as the midwives mainly to be there incase she needed to look after the other children. But as it turned out my mum was there for me. Even though my husband was fantastic the support from another woman was invaluable. Also with my mum there it took a lot of the pressure off Kevin, he could relax and be himself and enjoy the experience too rather than trying to be extra strong just for me.

Looking back over my births and thinking how wonderful it was to have someone there for me I knew this would be my perfect job. I was inspired to give other women and families unconditional support through their pregnancy, birth and becoming a mother and family. It had taken me 9yrs to find this rewarding job.
I came across Doulas and my eyes lit up. I knew this was for me and went straight on a Nurturing Birth course. I have gained experience through my own births, companions at friend's births and the training I have recieved.

Pregnancy is the most exciting time but can also be very emotional, frightening and over whelming. There is nothing wrong in asking for support, it may actually help make the whole experience more relaxed and enjoyable. I am there to listen, support you in the decisions you make, offer information, emotional support and to just be there for anything you may want.

I have supported hospital births, homebirths, natural and physiological births. Also assisted births, induction and cesarean births.

I am also a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter
